Today we discuss empathy. Not because it’s the hot topic of the week, but b/c it lets you learn very quickly. I just read autism in heels by Jennifer Cook O’Toole. She was always straight A’s and super accomplished but had some serious weaknesses. It is amazing. Thank-you Jennifer. Brain issues all have so many similar parallels.
When I empathize with her I saw me. Yes I have a disability but if people were to unveil my mask so to speak I always picture them angry at me. And silent, constantly silent. My father knows what silence says.
My point today, empathy let’s you see those weaker by minority status or LGBTQ or gender or disability and unveiled these people do not submit or succumb to that weakness. It truly is the triumph of the human spirit. No cross. No crown. Amen.
