PainttoSafety.com addresses 13 of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals
that are not easily addressed by current methods. If you include brain injured or mentally ill (BIOMI), you are upgrading the planet.
Goal 1 – End poverty – means addressing income for brain injured and mentally ill (BIOMI) a substantial part of the gobal population. In Canada this could mean up to 30% of the population at any given time. Painttosafety.com teaches our painters to have a balanced lifestyle; earning as work presents itself while managing their injury or illness. By teaching painters to work for themselves and manage their illness, they lift themselves up.
Goal 2 – Improve Nutrition – our Painters can earn money to buy food, shelter, transportation and clothing. Pretty simple and basic, but critical if you cannot do it.
Goal 3 – Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages. When 50% of the population under 40, in Canada, have been threatened by mental illness alone Painttosafety.com ensures a healthy lifestyle even at young ages! Mostly neglected because of the large costs involved, we offer cutting age brain health through development of business skills, painting skills and health management. All must include us.
Goal 4 – Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all. One of the beneficial factors of painting is the cyclical nature that allows downtime and how to productively use that time for further education, improve your home or be present with family. Course delivery via email is critical to allowing access when Painters are ready to learn, given the turbulence of mental issues.
Goal 5 – Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls. A painting business requires teammates, with different abilities and strengths. We achieve this by promoting women in business, painting skills training and in advanced education fields such as Interior Design or Architecture. There is ample proof women can paint as well or better than men – brain injury or not! This field is ripe for women to join in, especially in the technical areas.
Goal 8 – Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all. Our painters can fend for themselves in finding work, completing that work and getting paid. They learn to earn more each year as their skills develop in sales and estimating, as well as more difficult or technical job types. As well, once stabilized, recession proof Painting Contractors can begin to invest in other companies, plan for retirement or invest in their own children.
Goal 9 – Resilient infrastructure is human infrastructure that can manage and overcome difficult circumstances. Painting is a construction trade. We make this very clear in every house where we pole sand walls. Commercial painting is a step up in specialized maintenance and an aesthetics tool used widely in all areas of infrastructure from development to ongoing care in schools, hospitals and government of all levels. The industry is supported by massive global conglomerates of material suppliers.
Goal 10 – Reduce inequality within and among countries. On any given day a Painting Contractor may work in a multi-million dollar home or facility. And the next job work painting a rental unit. Socially they may walk with Engineers, Architects and Interior Designers while at the same time blending in with construction types of all classes. This allows for leadership in walking among several classes, cultures and genders because that is what the industry is made up of. Everyone counts.
Goal 11 – Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable. Such is the trend towards, home gardens, recycling and home improvements. Gardeners, upcyclers and contractors improving residences into sustainable homes and work spaces. Painttosafety.com happens to include our friends with brain injuries and mental illness as well!
Goal 12 – Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns. Engineered wear & tear indicators allow for everyone to update and upgrade not only the colours in their homes with our Painters, but also every aspect of life from vehicles (another painting market btw) to toothbrushes! Painttosafety.com simply allows more people to be independent and self-sustaining.
Goal 13 – Climate Action – our Painters use a less intense carbon footprint in their quest for a livelihood. Imagine if you worked with a 20 week vacation plan how much less you would consume!
Goal 16 – Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels. The way of the brush is peace, to flow with the oneness of the wall in this dance of life. Too much? Well, inclusiveness means also having those who are outside the workplace for reasons such as brain injuries and mental to be come useful and included again. Painttosafety.com allows that to happen!
Goal 17 – Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development. Partnerships mean agreements between healthy and independent parties. This can only happen inside marriages, between companies, groups and nations once everyone at the table is on an even footing in terms of health, finances, knowledge and peaceful onjectives.
I hope it’s clear that our plans to serve a global community can be outlined within some of these UN goals. Brain injuries and mental illness does not discriminate across cultures. genders, age groups and nations. It is a global issue. We may be one of the first on the scene to have an opportunity to develop and contribute in cutting edge ways to solutions.
